Backcountry Ball
Saturday, November 21, 2009
5-10pm @ The Village at Sugar Bowl

It's been a decade now since ASI turned the keys of the Donner Spitz Hütte over to the Sugar Bowl Academy. While we don't miss living in the "office," we do miss the camaraderie that came from dining and hanging out with old and new friends after a day of climbing and skiing. So it's time to throw a party! You and yours are invited.

There are plenty of reasons to celebrate. Number one on our list is to kick off ASI's Backcountry Adventure Center, the result of our historic partnering with Sugar Bowl to turn more skiers on to backcountry skiing. Plus it's our 30th anniversary guiding and Sugar Bowl's 70th year serving skiers. And of course, to kick off another season, Tahoe style, with a backcountry ball.

  • Hütte style buffet with a choice of pasta, salad, garlic bread and a drink coupon
  • Cash bar. The first drink's on us, but if you want more, there's more to be had
  • Music by The Crawlers
  • Prizes
  • Lodging Available. Discounted lodging will be available for attendees just around the corner at The Lodge at Sugar Bowl

Who's Invited?
You are! You and all our old friends at ASI, and any new friends you think should be introduced to the backcountry and want to come have a blast! Please tell your friends to email or call us (530-582-9170) so we can e-Vite them.

Why is that important?
For two reasons, first, who is going to be at the Backcountry Ball is the reason we plan to handle tickets via eVite because it provides a way for you to see who else is going. Let's face it half the motivation for going to any party is to rub shoulders with whoever else is going to be at the party. With eVite you'll be able to see in advance who else is going and know for sure that, yes, you really should be there.

The other reason is that if your friends are added to our eVite list they will be automatically entered in the raffle to win one of several prizes given away at the Backcountry Ball.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in person at The Back Country in Truckee or online by simply responding to your eVite that will be sent next week.

$5 from every ticket will be donated to the Sierra Avalanche Center.

We look forward to skiing with you and helping you achieve your goals. If you can't find the answer to a question on our website, don't hesitate to give us a call.

Sincerely,
Bela & Mimi Vadasz - ASI Directors
