Snow Magazine - Heli Prep Camp     2 Day

This weekend camp based at Sugar Bowl combines 2 days of skiing sidecountry terrain, AIARE avalanche awareness as well as the famous "Lake Run" down to Donner Lake. This unique program teaches protocol with avalanche safety gear including the use of avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel.

You'll also learn about how to ski as a team with the direction of a professional guide. Besides teaching basic backcountry skills and preparing you for a guided snowcat or heli skiing trip, the 2 days will be filled with lots of ungroomed ski coaching tips to help you with your mechanized adventures.

Tip: Spend your nights in a comfortable room at the beautiful and historic Lodge at Sugar Bowl with meals available at the distinguished Four Peaks Restaurant.

  • Emergency avalanche rescue


Prerequisites:
This program requires advanced skiing skills for skiers ready to link turns in the fall-line in ungroomed snow conditions. Skiers and riders need to be in good to very good physical condition ready for properly paced uphills with climbing skins.
