Guide Training
AMGA/PSIA Out-Of-Bounds Ski Instructor    5 Day

This AMGA training and certification program has been created for PSIA and AASI Level III Certified Ski Instructors to guide advanced skiers outside the boundary of the ski area. It has been determined by Professional Ski Instructors Association for the AMGA to conduct the training and certification of ski instructors working as ski guides for out-of-bounds skiing beginning at the ski resort.

This process entails a 5-day training course followed by 10 days of touring/mock guiding, then a 4-day certification exam. This OBSI will be an AMGA Contract Course offered by ASI, taught by Bela G. Vadasz and Peter Leh, AMGA Ski Discipline Coordinator and Instructor Pool Member. Both are PSIA Level III Certified Ski Instructors.

This course takes the curriculum items directly from the AMGA Ski Guide Course that are pertinent to out-of-bounds ski guiding in cooperation with the ski resort and its available resources.

A follow-up course after certification will be created by the AMGA for candidates choosing to go on toward AMGA Ski Mountaineering Guide Certification.
