Road Trips & Rendezvous

ROAD TRIP, Eastern Sierra     3 Day

We're teaming up with our partners, Mike Schwartz and The Back Country, one of the most dedicated backcountry ski shops in the country. Mike is the Master of the road trip. The Back CountryHe has become legendary with his trips to the East Side to ski many imaginative and creative routes. Check out his Trip Reports & Photos on The Back Country's site.

We'll load the roof rack and the Back Country Van and leave at 7:00pm from the shop in Truckee. We will travel like spring gypsies with comfortable car camps along the way, cooking quick breakfasts for the early starts and having dinner in restaurants along Hwy 395. Depending on the best conditions, we will ski big day-routes between Lee Vining and Bishop. Classic choices include routes on Mt. Wood, Carson Peak, Mt. McGee, Esha Peak, Little Morisson, Mt. Laurel, Mt. Tom and Basin Mtn.

This will be great fun with good camps in the high desert at the base of huge peaks on the East Side.

"I think that trip will prove to be unforgettable. The mountains were stunning, and we climbed high! I really liked that the itinerary was somewhat improvisational, but this was balanced by Logan's supreme organizational skills."
