Intro To Snow Climbing
1 Day
Donner Pass
Symbolic of mountaineering, the ice axe is also its most versatile tool. You will learn to use your axe for self-belay and arrest, kick steps efficiently, handle the rope in a variety of snow belays, glissade and are introduced to cramponing.
The skills gained from this day can extend the season of the trail walker from spring through autumn, give confidence to the ski mountaineer when skis come off or set a solid foundation for the aspiring mountaineer. This popular beginner's course is informative and festive.
The most thoroughly developed Snow School in America!
This is much more than just learning to self-arrest with your ice axe. Since 1969, Bela & Mimi Vadasz have studied French, Swiss, German and American technique. This unforgettable skills day teaches the most useful and valuable techniques with ice axe, crampons and rope to climb in functional, elegant alpine style on your next adventure.

"I just wanted to say that this weekend was incredible. I feel that even though I was an experienced climber at one point, this course as a refresher was worth every penny and that Paul is truly one of the best guides/instructors I have had the pleasure to work with."
