Mt. Shasta West Face (14,162 feet)     2 Day

The West Face is a magnificent alternative to the Standard Route. All together, it's only a little harder and with a mountain guide, the additional challenge is easily managed.

The route leaves the Standard Route at Horse Camp and traverses beneath the toe of Casaval Ridge, diagonally ascending to Hidden Valley (9,200') and our camp for the night. The following morning we begin very early for our ascent toward Cascade Gulch and climb the slope of the West Face to the ridge leading toward the SW Summit at 13,384'. From here, we traverse the flat plateau and gain the regular route at about 13,500' and follow it to the summit at 14,162'.

After we decend, we'll break camp and travel back to Horse Camp and the trailhead at Bunny Flat.

We've been climbing Shasta since 1971. With ASI, you will be climbing with the most experienced mountain guides with the highest professional certifications and the highest summit success rate on the mountain.
